Hunza Valley & Khunjerab National Park

Experience the real Shangri-La — ancient forts, turquoise lakes, and the highest border crossing in the world.

Overview

Hunza Valley in Northern Pakistan remains one of the most serene and sought after destinations by foreign tourists from across the world. With a history dating back to antiquity, the valley has long been known as the real embodiment of James Hilton's famous 1933 novel "Shangri-La (the lost Horizon)".

Before the construction of the Karakorum Highway, which itself is considered the 8th wonder of the world, Hunza truly was a Shangrila — a happy land isolated from the rest of the world. Today, Hunza is a relatively bustling town at the junction of the three highest mountain ranges in the world: The Hindukush, The Himalayas and the Karakorum.

Of particular interest are sights like the 1000 years old Altit and Baltit Forts, the seat of the former rulers of the Hunza State, the Ganesh village, where the Ganeshkuz are still retaining the 1000 years-old culture, life style and architecture. A visit to the Ganesh village takes one back to the medieval times. With the highest literacy rate in the whole country, People of Hunza are beautiful, friendly, warm, liberal and welcoming. Cherry on top, however, is the highest border crossing in the world.

Pakistan Explorer proudly presents the best of Northern areas in one go. Experience the lush green valleys, the formidable Babusar Pass at 3800m, the spellbinding beauty of Hunza, and the grandeur of the Khunjerab Pass. Spend leisure hours at the bank of the turquoise Attabad Lake. Take a walk in the picturesque valleys of the Hunza and Nagar. This life time experience will take a mere 7 days and 6 nights with luxury 3-star accommodations and air-conditioned transport all throughout.
